Science is a necessary part of an educational system, something indispensable for students. But it should be taught in a way wherein it doesn't become a mental load for students. A wonderful way of doing so is to organize exhibitions to promote science, and also to develop a scientific approach towards different theories. A Science exhibition which takes place at BHS every year for class XI and XII students promotes a sprit of competition and creativity among the young budding (to-be) scientists of the institution. This exhibition was held during the academic session 2006-07 on December 1 in the Flynn Hall. More than 200 students took part in the exhibition in groups of 5 or 6 students and competed in three categories of scientific exhibits: Charts; Non-Working Models; and Working Models. There were in all 46 exhibits, out of which 14 were working models, 6 were non-working models and 26 were under the charts category. An interesting and notable thing was that each and every chart or model was unique and no two models or charts were on the same topic. In the charts category, the topics ranged from "Bluetooth Technology" to "Nuclear Waste Management". There were charts on "Wi-fi" and "HIV-AIDS". Enthusiastic science students left no stone unturned in the preparation of the charts as well as the explanation of the topic which they had chosen for their presentation. Each exhibit was the result of days of hard work put in by the participating students. Coming to the working models category, which are always the eye-catchers at a science exhibition, the exhibits were outstanding. Among the 14 models the most notable one was the one on "Web-based Device Management System". The model had been prepared by Pranjal Srivastava, Shubhanshu Mishra, and Shikhar Bhatt, all of class XII-A. The model had been presented earlier the inter-institutional meet, TECHNEX, at IT-BHU the Effervescence at IIIT, and at the Science Exhibition organized by the Rotary Club of Allahabad, where it won the Ist, IIIrd and Ist prize respectively. Other models worth noticing were the Hovercraft, and the demonstration of "Doppler Effect" of the wave theory. The non-working models were nowhere far behind. The topics here included "Effects of Pollution" and "Distribution of Electricity". The judges had hard time judging all the exhibits in all the categories. The results were declared after four long fretting hours of judging and evaluation. The competition was very close as anticipated. It was evident from the fact that the teams at the top two spots in each category differed from each other by either 1 or 2 marks. But as said, "At the end of the day all are winners". The impeccable exhibits, along with the organisation of the exhibition, was a result of the tam effort of students with the support of the teachers. The school has planted seeds of innovation in the students and it's the job of the students to help the seeds grow into huge trees which may revolutionize the society and the surroundings.
