After a prolonged legal battle Mr. David Luke ultimately took over as the principal of Boys’ High School and College on Saturday at 10.00 am in the presence of the Allahabad High Schools Society Secretary Mr. H. R. Mall and members of the society.
Mr. David Luke had been appointed as the principal of the above college on February 24, 2011 by Bishop Moris E Dan, but owing to a pending litigation, he could not work freely and Mr C. V. Innes continued to claim himself as the principal of the institution.
Now the defeat of Mr. C. V. Innes in the Apex Court paved way for Mr. David Luke to officially take over as the principal and function smoothly. As a precautionary measure, heavy police force had been deployed in the campus. The police officers said that they were there to maintain peace. Who takes over as the principal and who is ousted, is none of their concern.
Mr. Luke convened a meeting of the teachers and staff and discussed ways and means to regain the lost glory of the Boys’ High School. He also cleared the pending payments of some teachers and employees of the college. Mr. David Luke said that he would sit in the office regularly, and the students and their guardians should feel free to meet him if they face any problem. He also informed that after summer vacations the college will be re-opened on July 8, 2011 at 6:55 am and will give up at 12:30 pm.
It may be mentioned here that after making some changes in the by-laws of the Allahabad High School Society, Mr. C. V. Innes continued as the principal of the college even after his retirement and also continued as the secretary of the society. Bishop of CNI Moris E Dan moved the assistant registrar Societies to see the amendments in the by-laws declared as illegal. Mr. Innes challenged the jurisdiction of the assistant registrar and the matter reached the High Court from where Mr. Innes did not get any relief.
He later moved the Supreme Court, but his pleas were rejected there also. Ultimately the assistant registrar gave his verdict in favour of the Bishop, but Mr Innes kept on continuing as the principal even after the Supreme Court decision which went against him.
