Smiles galore brightened the faces of nearly 270 children of class 1 to 12 as they were awarded prizes for excellence in academics and non-academic spheres at the annual prize day function held in the Flynn Hall of the Boys’ High School (BHS) and College here. But finally it was the Yellow House which stole a march on all of them by walking away with the prestigious Cock House Shield. Addressing the jampacked gathering, Mr CV Innes, MLA and principal of the Boys’ High School and College said that it was the prime duty of parents to ensure that their child grew in a conducive environment in the right perspective. “Winning of trophies and certificates would be meaningless if they fail to develop human virtues,” he added. While congratulating the prize-winners, he encouraged those who had failed to make their mark. He added that in every child lay dormant talents, and if it was not recognized today, it would surely be recognized one day. He advised the parents to encourage and motivate their wards to fully exploit their hidden talents and help them develop holistically. He said that it is of utmost importance that besides academics, the students should participate in games and sports for the overall development of their personality.
