Felicitation of Mr. C.V. Innes at the All Saints' Cathedral PDF Print E-mail

Allahabad, Aug 14 Mr C V Innes, Christian MLA of the Anglo-Indian community in the UP Vidhan Sabha stressed on the importance of effective political participation of public at large, to strengthen the roots of functional democracy. Mr Innes was speaking at a Church Service, organized by the Diocese of Lucknow , Church of North India, at the All Saints' Cathedral here on Wednesday Aug 13, 2008.


He appealed to the people to rise above their petty regional and caste loyalties and contribute their services for the progress and development of the country. He applauded the efforts of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government headed by Ms Mayawati for its good work in the area of social engineering based on the principle of ‘Sarv Jan Hitai, Sarv Jan Sukhai’ to bring about a radical transformation in the society to promote equality, justice and fraternity.

He assured that though he represented the micro minority Christian community, he is more than willing to fight injustice and deprivation wherever present, irrespective of class, caste and community differences.


He reminded the vast intelligentsia present on the occasion that they are the harbingers of change and their contribution is indispensable in making India a strong and vibrant nation. In the end, he expressed his deep gratitude to each and everyone for their love, affection and support.

The function started with the opening prayer by Rev Rajesh Joseph. This was followed with the introduction of the chief guest by Rev G Daud. The prayer ceremony was conducted by Rev Praveen Massey, Rev JJ Newton and Rev G Daud. The Bishop of Lucknow, Church of North India, Rt Rev AR Stephen garlanded Mr Innes and presented him with a shawl on behalf of the Diocese. This was followed with the presentation of bouquets by various Churches and educational institutions.

Addressing the jam-packed gathering, the Bishop Rt Rev AR Stephen appreciated the services of Mr Innes in the field of education and upliftment of the Christian community. Dr SD Chand, secretary of the Diocesan Board of Education and former principal of Ewing Christian College also appreciated the efforts of Mr Innes for illuminating the minds of the people.

Pastors of various churches, principals of various educational institutions and teachers and staff of various schools and colleges were present on the occasion. Prominent among them Dr M Massey, principal, Ewing Christian College,. Mr NL Singh, principal, Bishop Johnson School and College, Dr (Ms.) L Anthony, principal, Mary Lucas School and College, Mrs P Peters, officiating principal, Girls’ High School and College, Mr RK Gowan, former principal of Jamuna Christian Intermediate College and Rev Maurice Dan, pastor of Jamuna Church.
