The 66th Independence Day was celebrated at the Boys’ High School and College with great fanfare and gaiety. The entire school was beautifully decorated with tricolour flags. Hon’ble Justice B. K. Narayana, Judge of the Allahabad High Court was the Chief Guest while Mr V. S. Datta, Resident Editor, Northern India Patrika was the Guest of Honour.
The function started with the unfurling of the National Flag by Justice B. K. Narayana. This was followed by the singing of the National Anthem and Lord’s Prayer by Eric Jose. Speeches were delivered in English by Atulesh Jha of Class 12, Adeeb Ali of Class 4. Ayush Bhardwaj of Class 12 delivered a speech in Hindi.
In his nostalgic address, the Chief Guest, Justice Narayana, an alumnus of the school recalled his association with the institution and owed his success to grooming and education which he received in the formative years spent in Boys’ High School. Recalling the contributions of our freedom fighters, he gave a clarion call to the younger generations to live up to the expectations of the motherland.
Speaking on the occasion as Guest of Honour, Mr VS Datta recalled the memories of the first Independence Day celebration in Allahabad. He encouraged the students to work hard and become worthy and responsible citizens of the country.
Earlier, Mr. E. S. Egbert, welcomed the guests and introduced them. The function came to an end with a vote of thanks by Mr. D. A. Luke, Principal, Boys’ High School and College and Mr Joel Lawrence thanked the Almighty to shower His blessings on the school and its family.
