Logophilia – War of Words
On Tuesday, the 30th of August, India’s first and only Etymology Education organization, Logophilia Education Pvt. Ltd., successfully hosted the 31st edition of the English Olympiad, Logo+philia – War for Words, at the Boys’ High School, Allahabad.
Logo+philia™ – War for Words is an on-stage English Olympiad, conceived and hosted by Etymology educator - Dhruv Raj Sharma. It tests participants in English spelling, semantics, morphology, and pronunciation. Logophilia Education has representatives in other cities in India and Ireland.
Approximately 1800 students of classes 9, 10, 11 and 12 appeared for a written test. After minute evaluation, a short list of 10 bright students were selected for the final on stage performance in the Flynn hall at Boys’ High School & College
Logo+philia™ at BHS was divided into 4 phases, each containing rounds of vocabulary, spelling, and pronunciation. Phase 1 was open to all contestants; phases 2 & 3 were eliminative. After a grueling 7 rounds of competition, the first position was bagged Kaustubh Rai (Class 12), the second, by Ebaad Ansari (Class 12), and “outstanding audience participator” was bagged by Shambhav Pande (Class 12).
The existing and thrilling event came to a close with loud cheers and applause.
