BHS-Past and Present

The Boys' High School & College today stands proud and tall among the educational institutions of the city. The enviable and distinguished fruit of more than 185 years of meticulous hard labour is now ripe as it marches ahead into the next millennium leaving behind in its wake hordes of gaping mouths and incredulous eyes.

It is the only school in Allahabad to provide compulsory computer education till class VIII and and as an optional subject till class XII. The most well-equipped computer lab in town provides a much-needed impetus to the students to bring their cyber skills to the fore, thus turning Computer Science from the dreaded hydra-headed monster of a subject, as it is perceived to be, into a much-loved and coveted one.

BHS  also plans to introduce a  new subject, Environmental Studies, for generating an awareness about ecology and the threats posed to it as well means to minimise these. Plans are afoot to introduce the study of Humanities in the College Section, and the BHS will be the first institution to do so in the whole of eastern U.P.

Extra-curricular activities are also promoted in a big way. The school can boast of having the best sports facilities in the region. A full-fledged basket-ball court and an international standard boxing-ring are proud testimonials of the fact. Sporting events held the year round ensure that the students as well as the teachers are always on their toes and remain fit and trim.

The school has done pioneering work in the field of Gymnastics. The GYM built up in record time has been churning out champion gymnasts which are setting the national and international arenas ablaze with their performance and are expected to bring laurels to their Alma Mater and the country in the years to come at various national and international games.
