Faces of the Yellow House boys bloomed with excitement and joy as they lifted the Athletic Shield for the fourth consecutive year in a row at the end of the Annual Sports Day at Boys’ High School (BHS) & College on Wednesday. In a closely contested field and track events, the Yellow House which beat the nearest rival, the Green House, by a margin of 10 points, was congratulated by BHS Principal, Mr. CV Innes, who awarded them the Championship Shield amid a deafening applause.

While the Yellow House pooled a total of 367 points, the Green House ended up at 357 points, acquiring the second position. The Red House, left behind in the struggle, could gather 329 points, and had to remain content with the third position, and the Blue House came last in the competition with only 171 points.

Nitesh Kumar of the Yellow House in the ‘O’ division bagged the individual championship trophy, while in the ‘A’ division, Aman Ullah of the Yellow House got this honour. In the ‘B’ division, Ashish Singh of the Green House bagged the honour of winning the individual championship trophy. In the ‘C’ division, Shivendra Singh of the Red House and, in the ‘D’ division Kajal Singh of the Green House bagged this honour.

The function took off with a colourful march past by all the four—Yellow, Red, Green, and Blue Houses. The march past was led by the Sports Captain, Amarjeet Singh, who took the ceremonial oath on behalf of the competitors that they would participate in sports in a spirit of sportsmanship. BHS principal, Mr. CV Innes took the salute and declared the sports meet open.

 In the marching event, the Green House came first in the senior category, followed by Red and Yellow Houses in the second and third positions. In the junior category, Red House came first followed by the Green and Yellow Houses in the second and third positions. The Green House in the senior category and Red House in the junior category marched away with the marching cake.

In the tug-o-war event between the Yellow and the Green Houses in the college section, it was the Yellow House which pulled away the Green House, and in the middle section, it was the Blue House which floored the Green House.

The colourful PT display---The flowering cactus by students of class 1, Crazy caterpillars by class 2, clowns in town by class 3, The great gamblers by class 1,2 and 3, Sailor’s Hornpipe by class 4 and 5 won the hearts of the audience. The band display by the band squad of 18 children of the junior school was applauded by all and sundry.
