The Founder’s Day was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm by the students of the Boys’ High School (BHS) and College and Girls’ High School (GHS) and College on Wednesday morning. The students marched with School colours to the historic All Saints’ Cathedral to thank the forefathers of the above two temples of learning.

Immaculately dressed in school uniform, some 250 students marched all the way to the All Saints’ Cathedral from their respective institutions to offer Thanksgivings to the founders of the great institutions. The Boys’ High School squad was led by the Head boy, Ian Parth Dwijendra, while the Girls’ High School squad was led by the Head girl, Sanyukta Kuldeepika Rai. It was a beautiful sight for the passersby and onlookers who appreciated the discipline of the students on the roads.

The ceremony began with the prayer by the Presbyter of the All Saints’ Cathedral, Rev G Daud. This was followed by the reading of passages from the Bible by the Principals of Boys’ High School & College and Girls’ High School and College, Mr. C. V. Innes and Ms Priya Peters respectively. The atmosphere inside the Church was solemn and deeply expressive of their gratitude to the Almighty for having blessed both BHS and GHS with fulfillment of their mission to serve the society by imparting quality education and churning out responsible citizens of the country.

Addressing the gathering, the chief guest, Mr CV Innes, MLA, Vidhan Sabha, Uttar Pradesh and Principal of Boys’ High School & College, paid homage and rendered his heartfelt appreciation towards the founding fathers efforts in ushering an educational revolution in Allahabad. He said that Thanksgiving is a very powerful and profound experience and one must be grateful to the Almighty for His blessings.

In a inspiring speech, he advised the students to set aside their ego to introspect and be grateful and thankful to others to achieve excellence in every sphere of life. This will go a long way in the realization of God, he added. He appealed to everyone present to be thankful for the precious graces received from the Almighty and to cherish it without finding faults.

He said that a school or college is a temple of learning and asked the students to be thankful to the school or college, teachers, parents and to the Almighty for their blessings which made their lives meaningful and successful. “The most important thing in education is to grow and become responsible citizens of the country and serve the mankind.

Highlighting the significance of the All Saints’ Cathedral, Mr. Innes said that it took almost 58 years for this historic monument to take shape. The foundation stone was laid by Lady Muir on April 10, 1871. The Cathedral was official inaugurated on January 15, 1929. Its arches, buttresses signify the magnanimity of all those who contributed in giving the Cathedral, a Gothic style architecture. He further stated that all the beautiful stain glass windows, Altar, Pulpit and Baptism Bowl were gifted by people in expression of their thanksgiving to the Almighty.

The Thanksgiving Service came to an end with the benediction by the Presbyter, Rev G Daud Thereafter, the students returned to their respective institutions. There were cheers galore when the Red House was adjudged as the ‘Best Marching Squad’ at BHS. The first runner-up was Green House while the second runner up was bagged by the Blue House.
