The curtain of the five-day Sesquicentennial (150) Years celebration of the Boys’ High School (BHS) and College came down in a scintillating concert held at Holy Trinity School (HTS) on Tuesday. The Chief Guest on this occasion was Rt Rev Morris Edgar Dan, Bishop, Diocese of Lucknow, Church of North India (CNI). Mrs Isabella Dan, First Lady of the Diocese of Lucknow was also present on this occasion.
A kaleidoscope of cultural events was presented to mark this momentous occasion. The first to take the stage were the students of HTS who through `Surya Namaskar’ depicted the motto of their school `Blaze New Horizons’. The tiny tots of BHS presented a musical broadway titled `Granny Awards’ which was appreciated by one and all. Vanshika Godbole of HTS gave a breathless performance which left the audience spell bound. The HTS students showcased their wit in a play `Tenali Raman’ highlighting the deceptions prevailing in the society. Thereafter, on the foot tapping number from `Taare Zamen Par’, the HTS bounders gave an enthralling performance.
The students of BHS presented a skit titled `Bhrastachar ki Jad.’ The satire was highly appreciated by the audience. This was followed by the Zulu dance inspired from African tribal life. Shambhav Pande of BHS won the applause of the audience through his depiction of Prof Higgins in a mono act titled `Why can’t a woman be more like a man.’ An alumni, Himanshu Srivastava performed a `Tandaav Nritya which was highly applauded.
The highlight of evening was the Fashion Show in which the students of BHS walked on the ramp as women representing fashion prevalent in various parts of the world. Their show left everybody cheering and clapping.
Speaking on this occasion, Rt Rev Morris Edgar Dan remarked: “By the grace of God Alimghty Lord Jesus Christ, I stand here to witness these grand celebrations.” He praised the efforts of the principals, coordinators, teachers and students for putting up a grand show befitting the Sesquicentennial Year celebration. He also extended his gratitude to the alumni present for making these functions a memorable one.
He extended his warm gratitude to the clergy and the dignitaries present for gracing the occasion. In the end, he congratulated all for their hard work and efforts in making the Sesquicentennial celebration an unforgettable one.
Earlier, Mrs R Mandal, Headmistress of HTS, welcomed the guests and Mr L.A.M.French, Head, College Section of BHS conducted the function. Prominent among those who were present were Mr Kapil Muni Karwaria, BSP MP, Haji Mustafa Siddiqui, MLA, Mr Francis Moore, former MLA, Harsh Vardhan Bajpai, BSP leader, Lt Gen (Retd) Rana SK Kapur, Bollywood actor, Deep Raj Rana, Mr H R Mall, secretary, Allahabad High School Society, Mr Arun Paul, Treasurer, Diocese of Lucknow (CNI), Dr S. D. Chand, Director, Education Board, Diocese of Lucknow (CNI), Mr D. A Luke, Principal, Boys’ High School and College, Fr Louis Mascarenhas, Principal, St Joseph’s College, Dr Vishal Singh, Principal, Bishop Johnson School and College, Mrs D Dan, Principal, Bishop Johnson School (Girls Wing), Mrs Priyadarshini Singh, Bishop Johnson School (Extension), Mr S Lall, Principal, Ewing Christian Public School etc. The function came to an end with a vote of thanks by Mrs C B Luke, Convener of Sesquicentennial Year Celebration.
