To commemorate the 150 glorious years of the establishment of Boys’ High School (BHS) and College and Girls’ High School (GHS) and College the Founder’s Day of the above-named institutions celebrated their Founders’ Day with great joy and enthusiasm on Saturday morning.



On this occasion, an impressive Thanksgiving Service was held at the historic All Saints’ Cathedral. Immaculately dressed students in school uniform, some 250 students marched  in uniformity all the way to the All Saints’ Cathedral from their respective institutions to offer Thanksgivings to the founders of the above-named great institutions. The Boys’ High School squad was led by the College Captain, Shubham Shukla, while the Girls’ High School squad was led by the Headgirl, Saher Sayeed. It was an awesome sight for the passersby and onlookers who appreciated the discipline of the students on the roads.

The Thanksgiving Service commenced as the Principals of BHS and GHS led by the Chairman of the Allahabad High School Society (AHSS), Rt Rev Morris E Dan, Bishop, Diocese of Lucknow (CNI) entered the Cathedral to the strains of the hymn `Joyful, joyful we  adore thee.” The cross bearers and the flag bearers followed them and walked solemnly up to the aisle where they were handed over the colours to the Bishop. Nearly, 1,000 persons, including teachers, students and alumni of the institutions attended the Thanksgiving Service.

The ceremony began with the prayer by the Presbyter of the All Saints’ Cathedral, Rev G Daud. This was followed by the reading of passages from the Bible by the Principals of Boys’ High School & College and Girls’ High School and College, Mr. D. A. Luke and Mrs N.L.Singh respectively. The atmosphere inside the Church was solemn and deeply expressive of their gratitude to the Almighty for having blessed both BHS and GHS with fulfillment of their mission to serve the society by imparting quality education and churning out responsible citizens of the country. The School flags were blessed by the Moderator, Church of North India (CNI), the Most Rt Rev Philip P Marandih and the Bishop, Diocese of Lucknow (CNI), Rt Rev Morris Edgar Dan

In his sermon, the Moderator of CNI, the Most Rt Rev Philip P Marandih  stressed on imparting value-based education so that the students of these institutions have respect for human beings of all caste, creed and colour. He said that besides academic excellence, stress should be laid on character building of the students. Thanking the Almighty for all He has given to us, the Most Rt Rev Marandih prayed to God to give the management, staff and students of both the educational institutions strength to lighten up the place wherever they are and bring glory to their Alma Mater.

In his address, the former Principal of Ewing Christian College, Dr S. D. Chand prayed to the God to save these great institutions from the hands of unscrupulous and self-centred persons and shower His blessings on the Principals, staff and students of these institutions so that they continue to spread the light of knowledge and wisdom. He said that a school or college is a temple of learning and asked the students to be thankful to the school or college, teachers, parents and to the Almighty for their blessings which made their lives meaningful and successful. “The most important thing in education is to grow and become responsible citizens of the country and serve the mankind.

The Bishop, Diocese of Lucknow (CNI) in an inspiring speech asked the students to be thankful to their schools, teachers and parents for their blessings which made their lives meaningful and successful. He further added that the most important thing in education is to grow and become responsible citizens of the country and serve the mankind.

The Thanksgiving Service was conducted by the Presbyter, Rev G Daud.
