“The seeds of the future of a country are sown in schools”, said Mr. Anant Kumar Mishra, UP Minister for Health and Family Welfare and added that “the teaching and learning is a bipolar process in which the roles of the teachers and parents are complimentary,” Mr. Mishra was addressing a jam-packed gathering in the Flynn Hall of the Boys’ High School (BHS) & College on its annual prize day function held here on Wednesday evening
Mr. Mishra signified the importance of de-stressing the educational system for the proper grooming of a child’s personality. He called upon the parents not to pressurize their wards but to facilitate their upbringing by imbibing values and moral which would stand them in good stead in their future endeavors. He called upon the students to respect their teachers and parents because in their test of time, they will never let them down. He also encouraged the students to strive harder to achieve excellence but without compromising on their morals and principles. On this occasion, more than 150 students of class I to XII who excelled in academic and non-academic spheres were honoured and were awarded prizes. But finally, it was the Red House and the Yellow House which stole the show. While the Red House walked away with the Study Shield, the Yellow House marched away with the Cock House Shield. The function began with an opening prayer by Rev Gabriel Daud, Presbyter of the All Saints’ Cathedral followed by a welcome address by the Principal of BHS, Mr. C. V. Innes. In his short speech, Mr. Innes congratulated the students for the hard work they have put in to receive this special honour. The Chairman of BHS, Mr. AR Stephen blessed the students and wished the prize winners a very purposeful and a great future the society. The function came to an end with the singing of the National Anthem. Earlier, Mr. Anant Kumar Mishra inspected an impressive ceremonial drill presented on the BHS ground by the NCC cadets.
