BHS-Farewell 2008

The outgoing students of class XII of the Boys' High School (BHS) & College here were accorded an emotional and touching farewell by their counterpart of class XI at a function held in the Flynn Hall.

The outgoing students of XII, dressed as young handsome and smart gentlemen, keeping up with the spirits of farewell, were accorded a warm farewell by their class XI counterparts.

At the outset, the usually exuberant students were unusually quiet which reflected the nostalgic mood of everyone present, taking them all back into the memory lane.

The function started with a prayer to the Almighty, by the college Pastor Mr. J. Lawrence, to give wisdom, courage and strength to the outgoing students to do their best in their future endeavours.

This was followed by a very emotional and nostalgic speech by the college Captain, Achint Kr. Gupta, who recollected the sweet and sour moments, experienced during the past dozen years. ''I will never forget the grooming and the love and care bestowed upon me by the teachers of BHS.'' he said, thanking all of them for the same. Akshay Pandey, of class XIC, and Abhinav Phillips, of class XIE, spoke on behalf of the class XI students and thanked all the seniors of class XII for their support and love and expert advice. ''You all were the best idols for us to emulate,'' they added.

The serious mood was lightened down by Abhinav Goswami and his group who made the atmosphere melodious with songs like, ''Doorie'' and ''Sutta''. After this, the entire atmosphere became electrified and one by one, many students of class XII came up to the podium to showcase their hidden talents. Then followed a beautiful and humourous poem by our Cultural Prefect, Prashant Singh, who in his poem compared the various teachers to famous brand names and lightened everyone's mood.

The function came to a close with a speech by College Head,
Mr. V. Massey, in which he asked the outgoing students to become more responsible and more answerable for their actions in the future. He wished them the very best of success for a brighter future. The function concluded with several rounds of photography and an appetising lunch.
